This blog post connects Station Eleven to the world
This novel Station Eleven, is about a Hollywood actor dying on stage and this “Georgia Flu” suddenly arise which kills more than half the population. This epidemic made a whole collapse in the civilization. The rest of the people would just try to stay alive and hope that one day the world would be back to how it was before. This novel focused on the morals people had after the collapse. They all shared the idea of art living after death and that they would risk anything, even their lives for art and humanity. Since everyone acknowledged that life was so fragile that they could suddenly disappear. They treasured the things they had now and tried their hardest to keep them safe.

As I was reading this novel, I came across the part where Charlie and Jeremy had to leave St. Deborah by the Water because of the Prophet. The concept of them fleeing reminded me of the refugees in the world. Where they try to keep their family and themselves safe from countries who forced them to leave and banned them from going back to their own country. In the case of this novel, to stay alive citizens gathered at the Museum of Civilization that was created by Clark Thompson. The purpose of that, they could be there for each other since some of them might have lost their whole family and has no one to lean on. Having the support from others who understand you and facing the same issue would let them know that they are not alone. Basing off of this fact, refugees were forced to leave their country and go to a foreign place to start all over again. They must have had a hard time adapting and at the same time thinking “Why did this have to happen to me?”

In conclusion, refugees are a world issue we must pay attention to, even though we know this issue would not be easy to solve and it would take an extremely long time to solve. We should be kind and act as a helping hand to understand those who are in need of support.
Good connection to society. Refugees are quite often forgotten by society and I'm happy that you mentioned them in your blog. Often we have an tainted image of refugees, people coming from a different country and becoming Canadian. Only because we feel that we have established our presence here in Canada while refugees enter and get the jobs, proper schooling, everything. Yet, this is often not the case, most of the times refugees struggle to find a decent job and almost all the time that job does not fit the living wages in Canada. I believe that our society will have to flee sometime in their lives its only a matter of when. Only then will humanity fully understand what…
